FOR ORDERS OF PROTECTION IN COURT
If you are seeking a civil (without a criminal case) Order of Protection, you can walk into the following offices at the Cook County Domestic Violence Courthouse, 555 West Harrison Street, Chicago Illinois:
Domestic Violence Legal Clinic (DVLC) to apply for free legal representation in your Order of Protection (and divorce, if married to the abuser). DVLC intake hours are generally between 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday - Friday.
The office is located on the ground floor in Suite 1900.
Cook County Circuit Court Clerk's Pro Se Office to represent yourself in your Order of Protection case.
The Pro Se intake hours are generally between 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday - Friday.
The office is located on the ground floor in Suite 1400.
If you are seeking a criminal charge with an Order of Protection, you can walk into the following office also located at the Cook County Domestic Violence Courthouse, 555 West Harrison Street, Chicago Illinois:
State's Attorney Victim Assistance Unit to speak with the Cook County State's Attorney about bringing a criminal case against the abuser.
The SAO intake hours are generally between 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday - Friday.
Remember that when you intend to pursue criminal charges, always get a police report. The office is located on the ground floor in Suite 1600.
