On November 28th, the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, non-profits around the world will be raising mission critical funds all on the same day: Giving Tuesday!
Last year, DVLC raised over $9,000 on Giving Tuesday to help support the vital work we do for victims of domestic violence and we are looking to repeat that in 2017. This year, we are focusing on our Independence Project and the great work they do on behalf of immigrant victims of domestic violence. Join us on social media on November 28th for live updates, as well as stories from clients who have transformed their lives with help from DVLC.
DVLC’s Independence Project is unique among local services for undocumented survivors. Our immigration attorneys work closely with family law attorneys to increase client safety and our entire staff works with clients to assist in the range of bureaucratic hurdles they face as they seek immigration relief. Your gift to the Domestic Violence Legal Clinic can have a huge impact on the lives of domestic violence survivors in Chicago.
- $25 can provide a domestic violence survivor with the necessary vital records to begin applying for citizenship.
- $75 can provide the biometrics screening that confirms a survivor’s identity, as well as checking their criminal background, and is a critical party of the citizenship process.
- $150 can provide the necessary therapy to document the abuse a survivor suffered for their Violence Against Woman Act (VAWA) petition.
- $250 can provide a survivor with the ability to visit a civil surgeon for an immigration medical exam, often times one of the final hurdles before a survivor gains citizenship.
